Ok, so Tuesday morning 55 of us, teachers and students took off for Slogen. Slogen is a famous mountain in this area because it stands alone and how it falls strait down on the back side. So Tuesday morning we took off in buses and headed for the trail head. It rained all day Tuesday and made hiking somewhat miserable but enjoyable at the same time. It took just over 3 hours to get to the cabin where we called it camp for the night. The cabin is meant for 28 people, we had 55.. it was alittle cramped and with wet gear all over, but it was fun. Sure enough in the afternoon and evening the rain stopped. I went outside where Anders and Ottar were sitting and this was at 7:15pm. They asked if I think I could make it to the top of this mountian on the back side of the cabin. (I cannot pronounce the name of it, but I know it started with a B... Breckenton or something like that) I said, do I have enough time to make it up and back down before dark? Ottar told me I had an hour to to go up and then I had to turn around, So I asked, do you think I can make it to the top in an hour? Ottar said it would be close.. so I took the challenge and started going up. So the pictures at the start of of us going to the cabin but then the "other mountain the night before" is the mountain I am describing. I got about 100meters from the top and on the right side of the ledge was strait down to a glacier and the left side, as you can see by the photos was steep and not really doable by myself. If I had more day light, a rope and another person there, I woulda gone for the summit, but it was an amazing view of Slogen and the surrounding mountains. I made it 100 meters from the top in 40 minutes so I had 20 minutes to look around and take photos. Ottar said that when they looked out the window of the cabin they could just see a little speck up on the mountain and it was me! As tired as I was from hiking and climbing Tuesday, sleeping in the same room as Ottar and Ato was a bit noisy... Ato snores loud, and Ottar`s snoring is constant. Wednesday morning we woke up early, and headed for the summit of Slogen.. and believe it or not it rained again. It took another 3 hours to make it to the top, 4600ft above sea level. It was foggy so I could not get a pic from the top but I do have the pic of my by the rock pile on the top. Look at the very last pic on this post, I love this pic.. it really shows how awesome this mountain is... Thursday we did the 3 hour hike back to the bus and came back to the school.. 3 days away from my Norwegain cell phone that noone calls, away from the computer, and electricity in general, no showers... it was great, even with the rain, I like to think the rain doesn`t build character, it reveals it. And I enjoyed it!

Destination Patchellhytta.. to the cabin where we stayed two nights and I climbed a mountain I cannot pronounce and then Slogen... both near 1564 meters above sea level.

On my way to the top... not actually, this is just the start of the trek up to the cabin.

Ato... one of the Afrika teachers... he is from Ghana.

Ottar helping us across this "bridge" and suprisingly noone fell in... this is on our way to Patchellhytta.

This is Patchellhytta, the cabin we stayed in for two nights which Slogen, the mountain we climbed on Wednesday on the right.

Panoram from the mountain top I climbed by myself... Slogen is on the right which we would climb the next day with the whole group.

100meters or so from the top is all the farther I could make it because on the other side of that ledge to the right was straight down to a glacier. If I had someone else with me and some rope, I think I could have made it to the top... but getting down woulda been a different story.

View of Slogen from the mountain I climbed the night before going up Slogen... here you can see how the mountain on the back side falls straight down. Its crazy looking when your actually at the top.

This is the sun setting and I am up on the other mountain the night before we climbed Slogen, so I was probably 4400ft up or something like that... and yes, I made it back down to the cabin before dark.

The tallest point on the right hand side is where I was the night before. Now this is the next day on Slogan looking back at where I was the night before.

The group on our way up Slogen.

Roughly half way up Slogen, before we got to the fog and heavier rain.... what a view huh?

Me 4600ft up in the air on top of Slogen, in the rain and fog.

Coming down from the peak of Slogen in the Fog and rain... what a treat.

This is one last photo of Slogen, the very extreme point is where we were at... 1564 meters above sea level which is roughly 4600ft... and on the other side of this point, it is literally straight down!
